PEF Innovation Stories

At Elea, every breakthrough begins with collaboration. Our Innovation Stories showcase how partnerships with researchers and industry leaders drive Pulsed Electric Field (PEF) technology into new applications and real-world impact.

  • FoodPlant, Singapore

    PEF Supporting Food Innovation

FoodPlant has integrated Elea’s PEF Pilot Dual system into Singapore’s first shared food processing facility. The system supports both batch (up to 10 kg) and continuous (up to 250 l/h) processing, giving start-ups, SMEs and students hands-on experience with PEF technology. This collaboration accelerates product development while strengthening Singapore’s food innovation ecosystem.

    Industrial Scale PEF Wine Trials

During the 2024 harvest, Elea's PEF Advantage P100e processed over 350,000 litres of crushed grape must at a winery in Abruzzo. The technology improved juice yield and enhanced aroma, polyphenol, and flavour profiles. Blind sensory trials confirmed that PEF-treated wines were more structured, vibrant, and fresh than untreated controls.

    Innovation in Meat Processing

Researchers at the University of Otago collaborated with Elea to develop a custom PEF Pilot Dual system for meat processing. The system enables rapid tenderisation and flavour enhancement, transforming lower-value cuts into premium-quality products. This project demonstrates how PEF technology can create sustainable, high-value applications in the meat industry.
