Leading the Way: Elea Applies for the 2025 Climate Innovation Award of Lower Saxony

03. July 2025 - We are proud to share that we have officially applied for the Climate Innovation Award 2025 of Lower Saxony with our PEF technology in the potato industry. This award celebrates innovations that make a meaningful contribution to climate protection, and we’re excited to showcase how PEF is shaping the future of sustainable food processing.

PEF: Innovation for a Sustainable Future

Our PEF (Pulsed Electric Field) technology not only enhances product quality and enables new product opportunities in potato processing, but also delivers significant sustainability benefits. For the production of French Fries and Potato chips, this means for example:

🔋 Up to 90% reduction in water and energy consumption

📈 Higher yield

🥔 Reduced raw material losses & reduced frying oil usage

To date, we have installed over 250 PEF systems, collectively saving approximately 920,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year. Combined with the use of green electricity, our PEF technology represents a major step toward climate-neutral food processing.

Climate Innovation Award of Lower Saxony 2025 — Spotlighting the Future of Food and Climate Solutions

The Climate Innovation Award honors pioneering solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future. Innovations are evaluated based on four core criteria:
