We’ve launched a dedicated page on microalgae and spirulina, showing how PEF gently opens cells and enables efficient extraction of proteins, pigments, lipids and more – without chemicals or enzymes. ENABLE Project & Current Trials
As part of the ENABLE project within Innovationsraum NewFoodSystems, and together with PUEVIT GmbH/ALGENWERK, we are running practical PEF trials with various microalgae species such as Chlorella. Using our treatment chamber and the PEF Pilot Dual system, we’re optimising the extraction of high-value compounds while preserving their quality.

Growing Knowledge Through Collaboration
We’re proud to support Carl Felix Terheyden from Hochschule Osnabrück, who is focusing his Master’s thesis on optimising microalgae extraction with PEF. His research combines process optimisation with innovative decolourisation steps—aiming for higher yields, purer extracts, and practical insights through his involvement in ENABLE field trials.
Together, these three strands—new knowledge sharing, collaborative trials, and academic research—show how we’re connecting platforms, projects and people to drive sustainable innovation in microalgae processing with PEF.
