Welcoming Future Scientists: Biology Students Explore PEF at Elea

04. February 2026 - Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming another group of students to Elea! This time, we hosted biology students from the Universität Osnabrück, accompanied by their professor, Dr. Christian Hertel.

PEF Explained: Industrial & Scientific Applications

Matteo Stefanelli kicked off the visit with a short presentation on the working principles of Pulsed Electric Fields (PEF) and its key applications in both industrial and scientific settings. After the introduction, the hands‑on part began:

🔴 Red beets were treated to demonstrate PEF’s strong extraction potential

🍅 Tomatoes were used to show how PEF enhances peeling efficiency

🥔 Potatoes were processed and then analyzed using our CutControl system, clearly illustrating the significant reduction in cutting force after PEF treatment

We're always happy to give students a closer look at how PEF works, and we’re looking forward to welcoming another group this week.
