Empowering Future Food Engineers: PEF Training at Elea

16. February 2026 - This month, Elea Technology had the pleasure of welcoming 14 students from the Master’s program Food Process and Product Engineering (TiHo & DIL Deutsches Institut für Lebensmitteltechnik e. V.) for a hands‑on practical course dedicated to exploring PEF applications.

A Practical Course in PEF Applications

Throughout the day, the group carried out experiments on both solid and liquid materials. They produced their own chips and analyzed key quality parameters such as cutting force, slice thickness, and moisture content. In addition, the students performed microbiological tests on PEF‑treated orange juice, including dilution series and plate counts. By comparing control samples with PEF‑treated ones, they were able to clearly observe the effects of Pulsed Electric Fields under different processing conditions.

⚡It was inspiring to see the students’ curiosity and enthusiasm as they discovered the potential of PEF technology and gained practical insights into its use in food processing.
