Welcoming Ari Salvador Moreno Razo: Advancing PEF Research Together
23. September 2025 - ELEA Technology recently welcomed PhD candidate Ari Salvador Moreno Razo for a week-long visit, collaborating with our team to establish a validated microbial inactivation model based on CFD simulations.
Collaborating on Innovation
Ari is a PHD candidate at IIM-CSIC (Instituto de Investigacións Mariñas - CSIC and at the Universidade de Vigo, specializing in Mathematical Methods and Numerical Simulation in Engineering and Applied Science. In the coming months he will conduct a three-month internship at the University of Athens focusing on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation of PEF processing for liquid applications.
In this regard, he visited us for one week and collaborated with Matteo Stefanelli and Arisa Thamsuaidee to develop and validate simulated models through real experiments on our PEF Pilot Dual. The aim of this collaboration is to establish a validated microbial inactivation model based on CFD simulations, that can be used to optimize operational conditions for microbial decontamination by PEF.
The next steps will include analysing the data collected during his stay and further developing this tool to support the optimization and design of future PEF processes.
Knowledge Exchange: Strengthening expertise through interdisciplinary teamwork and shared insights
Reflecting on last week, Matteo shared: “This week was precious for the three of us, as we had the opportunity to deepen our understanding of PEF processing and exchange valuable knowledge from our different backgrounds.”
